My Husband Loves His Chainsaw

Here's the thing about trees - More is not always better and there really is a limit to how many can you can have on a very small city lot before it detracts from the beauty of the property.

Even if we had not wanted a pool, a lot of those trees were going to have to come out.  We started out with a completely empty lot and I take full blame for over-planting trees the first couple of years we lived here.  Big mistake.

As requested by our pool builder, the excess trees were trimmed down to 2 foot stumps.

This Japanese Maple tree was directly in front of the window where the cat tree is in our living room.  It was supremely unhappy after a summer of record-breaking breaking heat and the squirrel who for some reason spent all of its free time gnawing on the bark.  The cats were amused at least.

This Crepe Myrtle tragically  did not survive the first day of excavation.  But that's ok, there are still a trio of Crepes in the front yard.
